French national reference center for complex congenital heart defects (M3C)
The cardiology department of the Georges-Pompidou European hospital is one of the constituent sites of the rare diseases reference center for complex congenital cardiac heart defects (M3C). It takes care of adult patients with complex congenital heart disease, trains doctors in this discipline and carries out research aimed at improving the care of these patients.
This reference center is affiliated with the CARDIOGEN rare diseases healthcare network.

The missions of the center are:
- Care : coordination of the management of adult patients transferred from pediatric centers or with a new diagnosis of complex congenital heart defect in adulthood.
Monitoring and development of care networks specific to the management of congenital heart disease in adults. - Training : awareness of cardiologists on the specific nature of the management of these heart disease, awareness and training of other practitioners called upon to coordinate (general practitioner) or to intervene in the care of the patient (dentist, obstetrician, anesthesiologist, etc.)
Diploma training for cardiologists and pediatricians who specialize in adult congenital cardiology and will exercise this skill in other M3C expert centers - Research : establishment of a national and international register to improve the care of congenital heart disease in adults
The congenital cardiology medico-surgical unit at the Georges-Pompidou European hospital
The AP-HP inaugurated on Wednesday 08 November 2017 a medico-surgical unit for congenital cardiology at the Georges-Pompidou European hospital. This new unit offers, as part of a partnership with the Necker-Enfants malades hospital AP-HP, specialized medical and surgical care for adult patients born with a congenital heart defect.
